Mastervest
I purchased an automobile from a collection of discarded and damaged vehicles. The vehicle in question is a BMW model E87 116i with a mileage of 74,000 kilometres. It is in excellent condition. The issue arose from the leakage of fuel from injector number 4 and a crack in the exhaust flexi.I attempted several methods to resolve the issue, and I was fortunate enough to borrow Johnnyroper's timing kit, for which I am grateful. Once I verified that the timing was accurate, I proceeded to interchange the injectors and coils from my other vehicle. However, despite these efforts, the car still failed to start. I had a new flexi joint welded to the exhaust, and upon reflection, the vehicle was operational prior to the repair of the exhaust system. I detached the exhaust and the engine started immediately. whether anybody is experiencing similar troubles, I would recommend thoroughly checking whether the kitty is obstructed, like I did in mine. Mastervest
They continued driving despite the malfunctioning injector. The accumulation of carbon obstructed the catalytic converter, causing the exhaust pressure to rupture the flexible pipe.
Liveek
Wow, that is a significant amount of carbon.

Mastervest
Excrement!!!!I wonder whether there will be further content in the future.I would like not to obstruct another exhaust system.Removing that down pipe seems to be rather difficult and laborious. Authorce
What was the cause of this occurrence?
Mastervest
I can only surmise that it was a malfunctioning injector. Upon testing the injector, it was seen that it was continuously spraying, resulting in the destruction of the first catalytic converter and complete blockage of the second one. I am completely unaware of the reason why it was not recognised, to be honest.
Mastervest
I am contemplating if I should replace the downpipe as well, in the event that there are more issues.
Liveek
Certain individuals lack awareness and just continue driving until they come to a halt, oblivious to factors such as unusual sounds or malfunctioning components. My wife resembles that description well.
Mastervest
Fortunately, my wife does not drive, which is rather advantageous! I now have concerns about operating the automobile, as there may be further contaminants present or whether the current amount is the whole of the issue. I will eventually have to replace the downpipe. I will also replace the oil as I am uncertain about the last time it was changed and it is likely polluted with fuel at this point. I may send my wife to Halfords tomorrow. The distance is just a few miles.
Sumoto
I would recommend installing a straight pipe exhaust system at this time, since it is more cost-effective. However, please note that you will need the assistance of a cooperative MOT tester.
